DECEMBER

Folkify played in the bells at The Drum and Monkey - happy new year everyone! 

 

OCTOBER - NOVEMBER

Morna is performing in 'Dr Johnson Goes to Scotland' at Oran Mor and The Traverse. She is looking forward to working with director Marilyn Imrie again plus the suprb cast including Lewis Howden, Gerda Stevenson and Simon Donaldson.

Folkify's year long residency at The Tron ended with a bang including a fantastic guest performance from Del Amitri's Bryan Tolland and Noel Bridgeman.

 

SEPTEMBER

'Celtic: the musical' opened to sold out houses at Glasgow before touring to Dublin and Derry. More information here

 

AUGUST

Morna is very excited/ terrified / honoured to be performing in Nassim Soleimanpour's plays "White Rabbit Red Rabbit" on 9th August at Assembley Studios and "BLANK" on 20th August at Summerhall (both produced by Aurora Nova).

Folkify fun continues with gigs at the Bon Accord Pub, Glasgow on 6th August and Banchory Beer Festival on 13th August before the Autumn season kicks off at the Tron.

Morna will also begin rehearsals for Celtic: The Musical which will open in Glasgow before travelling to Dublin and Derry.

 

JUNE - JULY

Following a month long residency in Iceland earlier this year, Morna and Kate Carr will be working on the development of their project "Time & Tide" alongside Elgin based Out of the Darkness Theatre Company. A work-in-progress presentation will take place on 1 July.

Morna will also begin development on a new play for stage about the life of Helen Duncan with director Allie Butler and illusionist Scott Smith. This initial R&D period has been kindly supported by the wonderful Lyth Arts Centre.

Morna also returned to Dumfries and Galloway for the 4th year to work with Japanese students to develop and perform a play in English.

 

MAY

Morna is delighted to be working with Impact Arts to deliver their community project "Dennistoun: Through the Looking Glass".

She is also working in Lewis with Gaelic writer Catriona Lexy Campbell on a new TV series.

 

APRIL - MAY

Morna is currently in residence at Listhus Gallery in Iceland working on a new stage play with acclaimed Sound Artist, Kate Carr. This development has kindly been supported by both Creative Scotland and the Australian Arts Council.

JANUARY

FOLKIFY, a new monthly music event, kicks off at The Tron on 27th January. Hosted by Morna and Sandy Nelson, the duo - plus special guest and friends - will present a 'folked up' spin on popular songs. More information can be found on The Tron website.
